Cinnamon Crumble Muffins! Truly the easiest and yu

Cinnamon Crumble Muffins! Truly the easiest and yummiest way to make these late in the school year mornings easier. Truett LOVES the Betty Crocker muffins jn a box 😂🥰 so I set out to make something similar from scratch. This recipe is a winner!

Ingredients
.
Muffins
1 1/2 cups AP Flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/3 cup neutral flavored oil or melted butter
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
Streusel Topping
2 tablespoons softened butter
1/4 cup AP Flour
1/4 cup brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350F. Spray or line 12 muffin cups.
.
In a bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add in the milk, oil, egg and vanilla. Stir until combined. Spoon into muffin cups.
.
In a small bowl combine the streusel ingredients until well combined and crumbly. Top each muffin with some of the streusel.

Bake 15 to 18 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Come clean my car with me! I’ll admit that maintaining a clean car with four little kids is next to impossible but an hour of busting out the shop vac + my FAVE Bissel Little Green carpet cleaner and some serious elbow grease and things are looking MUCH better. I also used my beloved @trulyfreehome products for the interior and used a little Thieves concentrate in the carpet cleaner to freshen things up without toxic chemicals. Now, how long do you think this clean car will last?! 😂🤪

With all the competing projects and priorities in our house, it became clear we didn’t have the budget for new cabinets. But the soffits were a huge sticking point for me. They made the kitchen feel heavy and look dated. So what did we do instead? We added a couple thin pieces of trim to the top of the soffits and then painted them the same color as our cabinets. It’s amazing how much of a difference it made in helping the entire kitchen feel more updated + made the soffits look like cabinetry instead of a dated design element. #design #budgetdesign #kitchenremodel

When I was newly into my healing/recovery journey,

When I was newly into my healing/recovery journey, I had an idea that someday I would “arrive” at this point in healing where I could live like someone who had never struggled with the things I struggled with. Like somehow those things would be erased. But now, 10 years into this process, I know that healing is less about never having the thoughts or feelings and more about what I’ve learned to do with them when they inevitably come. Accepting that I will always carry with me some of the scars and likely always need to guard against old behaviors and thought patterns gave me the freedom to walk the slow, often winding, sometimes backwards path of healing with the compassion and grace for myself that was so needed.

A few things I find most helpful…
.
During times of high stress, I know I need to guard my heart and mind a little extra. For me, stress can be a trigger for old thoughts to creep back in.
.
.
Filling my mind daily with God’s word and knowledge of my beloved-ness in Christ. It’s not just words. It’s life changing truth about my identity and purpose.
.
.
Avoiding all social media accounts that focus on sharing before and after photos, restrictive eating, etc r heavy focus on physical body transformations as it can be very unhealthy for me.
.
.
Choosing clothing that’s a kind choice for my body and mind. Meaning clothing that’s comfortable, fits well and makes me feel good about my body on any given day. Uncomfortable, ill-fitting or restrictive clothing is one of the biggest things that can trigger unkind thoughts about my body.
.
.

I’m sure there is THE BEST CHILI RECIPE but this is the best chili recipe for busy moms who don’t want to chop but still want delicious and easy chili that can be made jn just 10 minutes!

Truly this recipe is my favorite. I make it nearly weekly and it’s a family favorite. Even better because it’s so dang easy.

Brown a pound of ground beef and drain. Add in 1 cup crushed tomatoes, a 28 oz can of chili beans in sauce, a 15 oz can of black beans (drained), 1/2 teaspoon salt, 3 tablespoons chino powder, 1 teaspoon cumin, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder and 1/2 teaspoon onion powder. Stir together and cook until heated through!

Post holidays I’m getting back on the meal planning and online grocery shopping train because it saves time, money and cuts down on the stress of, “What’s for dinner tonight?”

This week I shopped at our local Walmart online and picked up my groceries today. For breakfasts we will have eggs, yogurt bowls, muffins, cereal, toast with peanut butter, smoothies and pancakes. Lunches are leftovers, sandwiches, smoothies and school lunches for the girls and dinners are below!

Happy New Year, friends! I tried to capture a quick selfie to bottle up how I feel about 2024 and this cheesy no makeup smile is what I ended up with, which somehow seems wildly appropriate. The last year was a year where God asked me to give up a lot - a put together and renovated home, a lake house, control over how things in my life went, feeling put together in any area of life, my ideas about what was best for me, my sense of pride, my ego, and selfish desires. And it turns out once you’ve been asked to give up all those things, you start to feel a little lighter, a little more free, and maybe even a little crazy - like heck! God I’m yours, bring me whatever good and wonderful things you have for me rather than the things I think I need. So here’s to the year ahead, whatever wild, wonderful, crazy, God-honoring things HE has in store for us. May we press on toward what he has for us with joy and perseverance. ❤️
